Everything you need for life is there: the bedroom with double bed directly above the mini kitchen. A simple ladder connects the two “floors”.

For the 2014-2015 academic year, we enrolled 70 high school and 150 middle school students in our Studio H class to build public architecture with our team. The challenge this year is housing: How is housing influenced by social and economic context? 🏡 #tinyhouse #tinyhouseblog #tinyhousemovement #tinyhome #tinyhouseliving

Many shepherd wagons don’t have the functionality of a tiny home and are not really for full time living, however Barrel Top Wagons near Dartmoor National Park in southern England might be building some of most beautiful and practical mobile wagons around. Now they just have to make it over the U.S. #tinyhouse #tinyhouseblog #shephardhut #tinyhome #tinyhouseliving #tinyhousemovement

Craftsmanship, a large portion of hard work and a vision – these are the requirements for a project like this. Patrick Schmidt dreamed of a house on wheels. And realized his wish together with his father. Together they turned an old school bus into a small but very nice home.
Patrick Schmidt lives in California. However, he is currently traveling through US world history. He always has his home with him: a vintage school bus that he and his father converted into a mini house.

Patrick bought the bus for $ 4,500. He put another 9,000 into converting the vehicle, which took three months. The result can be seen. The bus offers everything you need for living: a kitchen, a living area, a sleeping alcove, a bathroom, even a roof terrace and a solar system.
In order to properly inaugurate his home on wheels, the young American undertook a road trip through 30 US states. Of course, Patrick also documented the conversion on Instagram. We show the wondrous transformation of the old school bus into the little house on wheels.
First day of work is complete and we made a ton of progress. Those seats were a pain to remove but so proud of our progress. Tomorrow to conquer the roof and those pesky rivets. #skoolieconversion #skoolie #busconversion #hardwork #diy #wedidit #homeiswhereyouparkit #sotired

HUGE shout out to the boyfriend @thetruthispat! He removed the rest of the panels and the insulation alone in 90+ Las Vegas heat. Got some of the chaos cleared up and put up some more insulation today. While I was doing that some more wiring was getting finished. The bus is coming together slowly! #ceiling #wiring #skoolie #diy #onestepcloser #wegotthis #arewedoneyet

Finally getting the hang of the ceiling panels and more than half way done. If we had to redo it I don’t think we would of removed the original ceiling knowing how much work this is. Would you? We are heading back to Seattle tomorrow for the weekend to pack up Patrick and be fully moved down to Vegas. So glad the bus is slowly moving along. #slowlybutsurely #skoolie #gettingthere #isitdoneyet #busconversion #wegotthis #seattle #moving

Update shot! It’s getting down to finishing all the different projects. Painted a few more walls today, after adding texture with knockdown. Put a few shelves underneath the kitchen countertops, which we also grouted. Sanded down some of the spackle over the nail and screw holes. Also added a few more finishing touches with small trim / moldings. Seriously, little by little its getting done. Simply amazed at what my dad and I have gotten accomplished. Quite a lot more things, but the end of the build is getting closer. #buslife #skoolie #busconversion #oneinamillion #paint #knockdown #skills #buildyourdreams #dreamscometrue #family #woodworking #sweatequity #tinyhome

Shot of the finished bedroom. My dad made the curtains, and thats the first pillow my mom ever sewed. A really wonderful friend of my parents made me that quilt. That’s what I wanted out of this bus build, for me and others to come together to share our talents and creativity. Its been nothing short of wonderful. The bed is super comfy, and the little 5,000 btu AC unit makes the bedroom super nice and cold. I’ve slept super great the past 2 nights. #skoolie #buslife #creative #interiordesign #diy #airconditioning #colorful #bedroom #beachbus #quilt #sewing #talent #goodnightsrest #family #love #comfort
