The number of illnesses and deaths recorded so far rose to 172
“We in Baden-Württemberg already have that, but a climate of trust has also developed here at the federal level,” said Kretschmann. So it is fitting that the head of government and his interior minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) will be answering questions together at a press conference in Stuttgart on Tuesday. The topic is the preservation of biodiversity in Baden-Württemberg.

The number of deaths from the dangerous Mers virus has risen to 23 in South Korea. The authorities also reported three new cases of infection on Thursday, while at the beginning of the week they had actually assumed a decrease in new infections. The number of people affected by the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers) rose to 165.
The World Health Organization (WHO) called the Mers outbreak in South Korea a “wake-up call” on Wednesday and criticized the inexperienced handling of the highly contagious virus by health authorities and citizens. For example, Mers patients were accommodated in overcrowded emergency rooms for long periods of time. “Doctor shopping” is also a problem with the spread of the disease, where people with possible symptoms go to several hospitals one after the other to get a second or third opinion.
The WHO also criticized the fact that many visitors and relatives of infected people stayed with them in their hospital rooms. According to the authorities, a good third of all infections came from relatives who had previously visited patients. In contrast, hospital staff accounted for 18 percent. The situation in the Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, which is considered to be the focus of the Mers outbreak with half of all confirmed cases so far, is particularly problematic. The Ministry of Health sent several workers to the hospital to check the security measures.
Experts criticize South Korea’s actions
The outbreak in South Korea is the largest outside of Saudi Arabia, which is where the most cases have occurred since the virus emerged in 2012. The first patient diagnosed with Mers on May 20 had previously traveled to Saudi Arabia. Experts in South Korea also accused President Park Geun Hye’s government of negligent handling of the virus. “The authorities must take better precautions to ensure that confirmed infected people and suspected cases do not come into contact with healthy people,” said Kang Cheong Hee of the Korean Medical Association of the AFP. There are doubts as to whether the government is sufficiently reviewing the quarantine regulations. Over 6,700 people are currently in quarantine, and 4,500 have already been released from isolation.
The health services also announced that they were preparing for new, spontaneously occurring cases of infection. On Tuesday, authorities expressed the view that the peak of the Mers outbreak was over. But eight new infections and a further increase in quarantine cases dashed this hope on Wednesday.
Mers is transmitted through body fluids. Like the Sars pathogen, it belongs to the coronavirus family. Symptoms include fever, difficulty breathing, pneumonia, and kidney failure. There is no vaccine against the virus. About 40 percent of those affected die.
Manila (dpa) – In the Philippines, the severe respiratory disease Mers has been proven in a man. The 36-year-old foreigner came to hospital with symptoms after his return from Dubai and Saudi Arabia on July 2, the Ministry of Health in Manila reported.123helpme.me

A second patient with flu symptoms, who had contact with the 36-year-old, is under observation. Typical symptoms of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers) include fever, breathing problems and pneumonia.
According to Health Minister Janette Garin, it was already the second Mers case in the Asian country. In February a pregnant nurse returned from Saudi Arabia infected. She has completely recovered, said the minister.
The Mers-CoV pathogen was detected for the first time in 2012. It has probably been circulating in the Arabian Peninsula for many years and has spread from there. The virus recently surfaced in South Korea – at least 33 people have died there since May.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 1,350 confirmed Mers cases have been recorded worldwide. However, the number of unreported cases is likely to be many times higher. There is currently no approved preventive vaccination or targeted therapy. According to current knowledge, the pathogen has been transmitted undetected from camels to humans for several years. It is one of the corona viruses, which also includes the Sars virus
When danger threatens, passenger safety comes first. Because of the Mers outbreak in South Korea, some port calls in the Asian country have been canceled.

The award-winning hip-hop musical, which received eleven Tony Awards among others, describes the life of the American founding father, Alexander Hamilton. It premiered on Broadway in 2015. Lin-Manuel Miranda was born in New York 39 years ago – but his parents come from Puerto Rico.
For the entertainer it was therefore a particularly emotional trip: “I love this island so much,” said Miranda at a press conference after the show, “and I want people to be proud of me.” His special concern: With the two-week guest performance Miranda wants to collect money for the arts and for the victims of hurricane “Maria”, which devastated Puerto Rico last year.

If the term “all-rounder” fits anyone, it is Lin-Manuel Miranda. The New Yorker is a composer, lyricist, rapper and actor. He can currently be seen in “Mary Poppins’ Returns” alongside Emily Blunt as a cheerful lighter.
The shooting demanded everything from him: However, it wasn’t the sophisticated dance numbers, he revealed on Ellen DeGeneres’ show. “But there is a scene in the movie where I light a lantern, ride a bicycle, steal an apple from a cart, and toss an orphan while singing in a Cockney accent. Those are the hardest ten seconds of mine Life, “he says.
And it is his biggest role to date: up to Mary Poppins, Lin-Manuel Miranda was mainly seen in TV series such as “Die Sopranos”, “Dr. House” or “Modern Family”.
But Miranda’s world is and remains the musical: On his 16th birthday, his life changed when he saw the award-winning rock musical “Rent” (1996) by Jonathan Larson. After that he felt free to write about his life, his hopes and fears, as he revealed in an essay in 2004. Shortly thereafter, he made his first musical about a revenging pig, which was performed at his high school.
A little more than 20 years later, Miranda, who also wrote songs for the animated hit “Vaiana”, was to get a star of his own on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. “I feel like I’m in a dream,” said Lin-Manuel Miranda at the ceremony in Los Angeles late last year.
More than three months after the Mers outbreak in South Korea, the last person suspected of being infected was released from quarantine. As the Ministry of Health announced on Monday, no new case with the respiratory disease has surfaced for 22 days. However, twelve patients being treated for Mers symptoms were still in a clinic.
In the largest Mers outbreak outside the Arabian Peninsula, 36 out of 186 people in South Korea who were detected with the virus died. Almost 16,700 people have had to spend long periods of time in quarantine either at home or in hospitals since May because of an increased risk of infection. The incubation period – the period from infection to onset of the disease – is estimated to be at least five to six days to a maximum of two weeks.

Mers is one of the corona viruses
The rapid spread of the deadly virus since the first case in May had caused great uncertainty in the country for weeks. People were spending less money. Many South Koreans also avoided major events. Mers, like many cold viruses and also the Sars pathogen, is one of the corona viruses.
Seoul (AP) – A good month after the Mers outbreak in South Korea, two other people died of the respiratory disease. The Ministry of Health also reported three new cases on Monday.

Two patients aged more than 80 years had succumbed to the virus disease, it said. This brought the number of Mers fatalities in the country to 27. The illnesses and deaths recorded so far rose to 172.
According to the authorities, more than 3800 people who could have been infected were still in quarantine on Monday. This decreased that number by more than 200. The incubation period – the period from infection to onset of the disease – is estimated to be at least five to six days to a maximum of two weeks.
In the past few days there have been signs of a decline in the number of confirmed new cases of infection in South Korea. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned several times that the outbreak could drag on for a few more weeks. The virus had spread rapidly after the first confirmed Mers case in South Korea in May. It is the largest Mers outbreak outside of the Arabian Peninsula. Mers, like many cold viruses and also the Sars pathogen, is one of the corona viruses.
Minority government, a fresh start in Jamaica or a grand coalition? Anne Will wanted to talk to her panel about the goals for the government train. The discussants preferred to go in circles.
The guests
Katrin Göring-Eckardt (B‘90 / Die Grünen), chairwoman of the Bundestag parliamentary group, Armin Laschet (CDU), Prime Minister in North Rhine-Westphalia Stephan Weil (SPD), Prime Minister in Lower Saxony Ulrich Battis, constitutional lawyer
The topic
Will had not imagined this way: In the last broadcast, count on the Jamaica wedding and in the current broadcast, celebrate a hen party with piles of broken glass – even with an unclear cast for the bride and groom. The former CDU does not want to take Weil back so easily for his SPD. Laschet countered that “this deal is bad for Germany”, for Europe. Brexit was the keyword. A stable situation is needed. Will immediately got involved: But a grand coalition again? He had heard this assessment from many in the Union, said Laschet. Will further poked that the Union would not imagine the Social Democrats’ willingness to cooperate too easily.
Core of the discussion
Laschet waved around. It is not time for party tactics. Battis took the pressure off the boiler. After all, there is an executive federal government, so no state crisis, so the constitutional lawyer.
